The   Skating   Club   of   Wilmington

Indoor view from Mitchell Loungehas been teaching the community to skate since 1965. Our programs encourage a true love of the sport, from Beginner to Advanced; Recreational to Competitive. We offer skating lessons from Preschool to Adult by accomplished professional coaches with excellent Learn-to-Skate Lessons, private Figure Skating Lessons, Synchronized Skating Teams for adults and children, and instructional Ice Hockey programs  to help you join a team. All these programs are offered to the public and club membership is not required although we recommend it if you want less crowded ice times, more skating sessions and discounted session rates.

Fundraiser Scheduled for October 17
is Announced at the Annual Meeting

The Club has not, for many years, been able to expend funds for major capital improvements, such as a new roof, new gutters, new windows, a dehumidifier, etc.

The theme of the fund raiser is Raise the Roof! Our building is a community facility, and we need a community effort to make our fund raiser a success.

 We need volunteers to:
 1.
Organize the Silent Auction portion of the evening
 2.

Obtain the musicians for the evening
 3.
 Obtain advertising/sponsors
 4.
 Provide publicity for the event
 5.
 Coordinate ticket sales
 6.
Create the written program for the event
 7.
 Decorate the Elks Club
 8.
 Provide Financial and Accounting Assistance
 9.
Set up and take down for the event

10. Most importantly, we need you to come to the event!

We need volunteers NOW.  The work for this event must be done this summer.  Please think about what you can do to help.  If you need more information, please feel free to get in touch with any Board member or member of the Executive Committee.

Ballroom Dancing Group Lessons are Postponed Until the Fall

Due to light registration to the Ballroom Group Lessons for the summer months, we will re-offer the lessons in conjunction with the skating group lessons program starting in September.

Consider inexpensive advertising on our website next time you want to promote a product or service. For advertising rates on our website, dasher boards, banners, Zamboni, or even on the ice, please contact Dot Gualtieri at our SCW Office.

Synchronized Skating Corner

For further information on joining a synchro team at SCW, please contact the SCW office at office@skatewilm.com or phone (302) 656-5005. There are opportunities for children and adults to skate in a great team atmosphere where team members support each other and have fun.  Go to the Synchro page for further information.

Did you know?
Many events and services at SCW do NOT require SCW membership, such as ballet classes, off-ice conditioning, birthday parties, USFSA tests, competitions, public skating, group lessons, ice skating exhibitions, use of the snack bar, skate sharpening and mounting, skate shop purchases, ice shows, and even Programmed Dance sessions!

Please drive slowly as you approach or leave the Club's parking lot. Many children use our facility! One-fifth of all children 14 years of age and younger who die in motor vehicle crashes are pedestrians. Don't forget that the speed limit on Carruthers Lane, West Park and East Park Drives is 25 MPH!

For your own safety, please make sure that you leave nothing in plain sight inside your car, particularly in the evening hours. All valuables should be carried with you or locked in your trunk.
